Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine has a unique style that blends R&B with gospel, soul music and R&B. She's performed on Broadway, in the Democratic National Convention and in clubs and festivals throughout Europe. Sunshine has the name Denise White. Even though she lives in Atlanta now, Sunshine is originally from Chester Pennsylvania. In Chester Pennsylvania she started out as a musician singing and playing in the church in town. She was a student at Spellman College in Atlanta where she started her musical apprenticeship within Atlanta's R&B scene. The debut song featuring her voice was called Stalk You, a Japanese house 12 song. It was remixed and has become a component of her set. The Fighting Temptations was the other soundtrack she sang on. She took on the role of primary pianist for Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, who won Tony and Grammy Awards for her voice, asked Sunshine to join the Dreamgirls show during the Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine was the subject of national media interest during four consecutive performances at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was later invited to sing during the inauguration of President Obama in 2009.
